Frequently Asked Questions
Please visit Suntec Protects for more details of our Suntec Protects initiative.
You may also find useful information from the following FAQs.
What is Suntec Protects?
Suntec Protects is a comprehensive programme of enhanced safety and cleaning standards that we have developed to create a safe and comfortable venue for our guests. This programme is closely monitored by our Safe Management Officers who monitor the implementation of the safety measures and work closely with organisers to ensure events are safely organised and managed within the centre at all times.
Are your staff trained in COVID-19 safe management protocols?
Yes, Suntec Singapore’s staff are trained in COVID-19 safety and sanitation protocols. The latest Safe Management Guidelines, as well as roles and responsibilities of staff on duty are constantly updated and communicated to staff through our internal staff portal to ensure that our staff are always aware of the protocols.
Posters and signages are also put up throughout the workplace to remind staff of the safety measures, including proper wearing of masks, social distancing and practising good personal hygiene.
In addition, over 30% of Suntec Singapore staff are also certified as SG SafeEvents Ambassadors (SEA) by NTUC Learning Hub and SACEOS. Our SEAs are trained to identify the SG SafeEvents Standards and Safe Management Measures required for MICE and events. They are qualified to advise on the range of safe measures and best practices to help you adhere to the SG SafeEvent measures stipulated by the authorities.
What are the hygiene protocols in place to safeguard the wellbeing of visitors from COVID-19 transmission?
Suntec Singapore has been inspected and certified by the Singapore Tourism Board as a SG Clean venue. Our venue’s hygiene and sanitation measures comply with prevailing guidelines and policies by the Singapore National Environment Agency, Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation.
Details of our enhanced cleaning and hygiene protocols are listed on https://www.suntecsingapore.com/suntec-protects
How does Suntec Singapore maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene?
SDST antimicrobial solution is also applied to high-touch points every 90 days. Duty Managers conduct regular checks using an Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) monitoring tool to examine the microbial levels at various touch points.
How does Suntec Singapore create a safe venue?
Scheduled cleaning is conducted by our appointed cleaning vendors daily. As part of the Suntec Protects programme, the following additional measures have also been implemented:
One-Step, Quaternary-Based Disinfectant
Every room and audio-visual equipment are sanitised with disinfectant cleaner Virex® II 256 before we handover the contracted space to clients. This one-step, quaternary-based disinfectant is used in healthcare and other facilities where cleaning and prevention of cross-contamination are critical. It is effective in killing bacteria, viruses (including COVID-19) and fungus, and meets blood-borne pathogen standards for killing germs and viruses in blood and body fluids.
SDST Antimicrobial Spray
High-touch points within the centre, such as door handles, lift buttons and railings, are treated with SDST antimicrobial spray every 90 days. This self-disinfecting coating helps to kill microbes, including bacteria, mould and viruses, and prevent germs from breeding, hence, reducing the risk of viral transmission.
Adenosine Triphosphate Monitoring
Regular checks are conducted using an Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) monitoring tool to examine the microbial levels at various touch points.
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation
We also use ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) - a disinfection technology that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light to kill or inactivate viral, bacterial and fungal organisms. This helps to reduce the spread of infectious pathogens.
How does Suntec Singapore ensure optimal air quality in the venue?
To ensure optimal ventilation and air quality, we use UV germicidal irradiation in our centralised air-conditioning plant to disinfect air within our centre. Our operations and maintenance of ACMV systems also align with prevailing recommendations from the Singapore authorities and Singapore Standard SS553: Code of Practice for Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation in Buildings.
All supply air diffusers and exhaust grilles are checked daily and ACMV systems are maintained regularly. This includes inspecting and cleaning supply fans and exhaust fans to ensure optimal operation, checking of air ducts and dampers to ensure no air leakages or blockages, and checking filter seals to avoid air bypass.
What air filters are used by Suntec Singapore?
All venue spaces are mechanically ventilated through the centralised air conditioning system with fresh air ventilation.
Interpocket MERV14 filters are used in all Suntec Singapore’s air handling units. According to the Singapore government’s guidelines, filters of MERV14 rating can substantially remove fine particles, including most viruses and bacteria.
These filters along with our UV germicidal irradiation provide a high level of filtration of air in the venue.
What personal hygiene items and services are provided to visitors to the centre?
To protect our visitors and encourage good personal hygiene, hand sanitising stations are provided in high-traffic areas, including at entrances and foyers.
Contactless facilities are available in all our washrooms.
Floor markers and signages remind guests to maintain social distance, adhere to safe management protocols and wear masks.
Can I request for additional cleaning and sanitisation services for my event?
Yes, you may order additional cleaning and sanitisation services if required. Please contact our sales representative for assistance. Contact details can be found here.
How does Suntec Singapore prevent crowding in the venue?
By monitoring the number of events and capacity limit daily through our centralised booking system, Suntec Singapore ensures that the total number of visitors is controlled and managed to avoid overcrowding or congestion.
Our Safe Management Officers also work very closely with clients to guide them in safe management measures from the start to end of every event.
During events, our Safe Management Officers actively monitor the people flow to ensure adherence to the safe management measures.
