Buddhism and Science Symposium Emotional Awareness: Cultivating Mental Balance and A Good Life 15 July 2010 |

Through this symposium, we will discuss the cultivation of emotional balance, drawing from the theories and practices of modern psychology and traditional Buddhism. We will also be discussing the nature of emotions, how to recognise them and how to regulate them so that people can lead a healthy and resilient emotional life. The discussion will also broach on the cultivation of mindfulness, attention, and meta-cognition relating to psychology and Buddhist approaches.
The speakers for the symposium are Venerable Jing Yin, Director, Centre of Buddhist Studies, University of Hong Kong. Dr Alan Wallace, founding President, Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies and Dr Paul Ekman, Professor Emeritus, University of California at San Francisco and Manager, the Paul Ekman Group, LLC.

Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) is positioned as a premier garden show in the international horticultural calendar and the top horticultural show in the tropics. It is a biennial event that gather top award-winning garden and floral designers under one roof. Into its 3rd edition, SGF 2010 will be held over eight days on 15 – 22 July 2010 at Suntec Singapore.
This year, the biennial event looks set to charm visitors once again with stunning garden displays, unusual plant and floral varieties, innovative and eco-friendly gardening initiatives among others, Some of the exhibits new to this year's festival include a balcony gardens display, a periscope garden and a supermarket garden for the younger visitors. Aspiring home gardeners will also be able to pick up useful tips from the new home gardeners showcase at the Festival.
